Principles of Medical Neuroscience (C1129)

Autumn teaching
This module is run in collaboration with the Brighton and Sussex Medical School. You’ll learn alongside medical students through lectures on topics relevant to healthcare, and through other formats such as clinical symposia.
Topics include:
- introduction to the human nervous system, as well as synaptic transmission and effects of certain drugs on the brain
- the organisation, function and biological bases of the sensory and motor pathways
- neurodegenerative diseases
- cognitive functions, along with psychosocial aspects of health and disease and diversity.
Teaching

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 73 hours of contact time and about 227 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
