On this module, you’ll gain the financial and accounting skills for success in industries undergoing digital transformation. By understanding and interpreting financial data, you’ll be able to make informed decisions driving business growth through digital technology implementation.
As an apprentice, you’ll:
- develop a basic understanding of an organisation's financial position and performance, using appropriate analytical tools and procedures
- identify trends and patterns in financial data through data visualisation and interpretation techniques (Excel)
- apply different accounting standards and methods to real-world business challenges
- use industry-standard tools and databases (Bloomberg, Orbis and Fame) for financial performance and risk analysis
- contribute to effective business strategies based on financial and budget analysis.
This module prepares you for future roles in data analysis, finance and technology.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 50 hours of work. This breaks down into about 28 hours of contact time and about 22 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
