Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll explore the governance of migration and refugees.
You’ll consider:
- how states, international organisations and other actors govern people on the move
- how politics, from global to sub-national levels, shapes migration policies
- how politics influences the settlement experiences of migrants
- theories and concepts used to analyse migration governance
- migration and refugee policies
- why are some people are authorised to migrate, while others are not?
Through a global perspective, you’ll examine how migration and refugee policies vary across the world.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 267 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
