Exploring Brighton

Brighton is a fun and vibrant city based on the south coast of the UK, directly south from London. While there is plenty to see during your visit, the social programme will include visits to two of the city’s most iconic attractions.

Welcome reception at the Royal Pavilion

On the evening of Wednesday 8 September join us for a welcome reception at the Royal Pavilion. During this you can enjoy a drink and canapé within the exquisite Banqueting Room and adjoining Great Kitchen. You can also explore other rooms of the Royal Pavilion as you socialise with fellow ORC enthusiasts.

The iconic is a Grade I listed former royal residence. It was built in the 18th century as a seaside pleasure palace for George, Prince of Wales, who became Prince Regent in 1811, and King George IV in 1820. At the time of its construction in the mid 1780s Brighton was developing from a decayed fishing town to an established seaside retreat for the rich and famous.

Gala dinner on Brighton Palace Pier

Join us on the evening of Thursday 9 September for the conference gala dinner, where you will have the opportunity to sample fish and chips by the sea at the Palm Court restaurant – a quintessential British seaside experience.

is a Grade II listed Pier built during the Victorian period. It is one of Britain’s most popular tourist attractions and is synonymous with Brighton and fun by the sea.

Brighton Pier taken from the seafront, with the bright sign in vision and people walking along it.   A photo of the pier taken from down on the beach, on the left side of the pier. The tide is very low so there is only sand under the pier, and there is a deep purple, orange sunset.
