On this module, you’ll examine four approaches to understanding contemporary US politics, emphasising the role of:
- institutions
- ideas
- individuals
- interests.
You’ll apply these approaches to the three main institutions of the Presidency, Congress and Supreme Court, alongside the nature of political parties and US voting.

- Analyse the structure and operation of an aspect of US politics
- Locate and evaluate academic literature related to a particular topic in US politics
- Identify and research a key issue or question relating to US politics
