Globalisation of markets and industries has created new growth opportunities for companies by accessing resources and serving markets worldwide. At the same time, managing across different cultures, administrative systems, geographic distances, economic structures pose its own managerial challenges.
This module focuses on the strategic and organisational challenges involved in managing innovation related activities across borders in an increasingly interconnected world. For example:
- R&D management
- new product development
- licensing.
Module learning outcomes
- To systematically appreciate and apply theories of innovation systems and networks as analytical frameworks for describing global innovation management and processes.
- Demonstrate critical awareness of the nature and processes of innovation.
- To critically evaluate key determinants driving global innovation systems
- To extend and apply knowledge about the importance of global/cross-border processes in generating and managing innovation strategies.
