Data Coding & Visualisation (L1006)

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll explore data coding and programming.

You’ll primarily use Python to cover:

  • the importance of programming skills
  • installing Python
  • the concepts of conditionals, loops and iterations
  • different data structures – such as strings, files, dictionaries and tuples
  • loading data into Python
  • accessing and harvesting web-based data
  • undertaking basic statistical analysis using Pandas
  • visualising data – such as bar charts, boxplots and heatmaps – using the Python Data Analysis Library.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
