Nanoscience and Surfaces (F1705)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll explore nanomaterials and surfaces. You’ll describe techniques to synthesise nanomaterials and analyse surface structure in detail.
You’ll cover techniques used to analyse surfaces to gain information about the surface structure, as well as the structure of any adsorbate on the surface. You’ll focus on the techniques used to determine surface and adsorbate structure, energetics and vibrational and electronic spectroscopy.
You’ll also explore the latest advances in experimental approaches to nanomaterials. This is based on recent developments in the subject. We’ll combine:
- lectures
- workshops
- research talks
- directed and independent reading
- a critical work.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
