Spring teaching

The coastal environment includes some of the most diverse and biodiverse habitats on the planet. Many of these coastal environments are highly dynamic, presenting particular challenges and selection pressures for the organisms inhabiting them.

This module will introduce you to some of the basic fieldwork skills of coastal biology. Develop skills in field research, including:

  • experimental design
  • data sampling
  • organism identification
  • data analysis
  • report writing.

Take part in a residential coastal biology field course and independent fieldwork exercises to learn and develop these skills.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
