Environmental Perspectives on Development (L2103)

What are the big environmental problems of today? What are the root causes of those problems? How are environmental problems experienced differently around the world?

On this module, you’ll examine these questions, exploring the relationships between the environment and development. You’ll examine historical perspectives on environment and development, illustrating continuities and changes in policies related to the environment. You’ll also explore a number of key environmental questions such as:

  • What is the impact of population change?
  • How do global food systems impact the environment?
  • What approaches are being used to reduce global carbon emissions?

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
