Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll get a critical introduction to the field of economic geography. You’ll learn about a range of different theoretical approaches and core concepts that help us understand the geographic dimensions of the global economy and society.
You’ll also get a background on the historical and contemporary processes that have shaped today’s global economy. You’ll develop the tools to interpret a range of pressing contemporary real-world issues that link the ‘economic’ with the ‘geographic’. This includes:
- the governance of the global financial and information technology sectors
- global and regional inequality
- international development
- sustainability transitions.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
