Ethnographic Field Research (002AN)

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll be introduced to the practical and methodological aspects of ethnographic research. It will build on Ethnographic Research Methods.

You’ll design and conduct an independent ethnographic research project on a key anthropological theme, applying the theoretical and practical insights that you’ve learned throughout your degree.

With guidance and support, you’ll learn to:

• formulate your own research question
• design a methodology
• conduct ethnographic research
• write up your findings in a final report.

You’ll develop your ability to apply theoretical knowledge of research methodology to a specific research project.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
