Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll deepen your understanding of how power operates in relation to law, society, the state, governance, and rights.

You’ll draw on a range of interdisciplinary approaches, including:

  • legal
  • political
  • critical
  • social
  • feminist
  • postcolonial theory.

You’ll examine how power functions within the modern state and intersects with globalised forms of:

  • political
  • legal
  • cultural
  • gender
  • economic relations.

Key topics include:

  • theories and historical accounts of legitimacy
  • democracy
  • globalisation
  • human rights.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
