Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll examine the law and policy of the European Union (EU), focusing on the role of law as a tool of European integration.

You’ll focus on the study of the constitutional principles and values of the EU, as expressed in the treaties and case law of the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU). This includes:

  • supremacy
  • subsidiarity
  • direct effect
  • indirect effect
  • state liability
  • protection of fundamental rights.

You’ll also explore key elements of EU law, including:

  • the Single Market four fundamental freedoms of movement (persons, goods, services and capital)
  • EU citizenship.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27.
