Truth and Morality (V7087D)

Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll confront some of the fundamental questions about truth and morality and what makes life meaningful, including:

  • Is it bad to die?
  • Would immortality be good?
  • Does it matter if you’re stuck in the Matrix?
  • Are you really free?

You’ll also consider fundamental moral questions relating to animal rights and human rights, including:

  • Should we stop eating animals?
  • Are abortion or euthanasia morally permissible?

Throughout the module you’ll develop your ability to think critically and independently about some of the most puzzling aspects of life.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
