Language for Life (Q2001)
15 credits, Level 5
Autumn teaching
How can studying English help you shape the world beyond university? How do language based careers actually work – and where might your skills take you?
On this module, you’ll explore how language functions in professional, public and digital contexts. You’ll uncover how your academic skills in reading, writing and analysis can have real-world use.
Building on what you’ve developed throughout your degree, you’ll advance your skills in:
- communication
- collaboration
- editing
- critical thinking.
You’ll explore pressing issues such as misinformation and digital identity, and develop your AI literacy and mastery. Through assessment based on real-world practice, you’ll understand how English prepares you not just for work, but for voice, agency and life.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
