Child Law (M5008)

Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll explore the most important rules of Child Law, including:

• parental status and responsibility
• child protection
• contact
• residence disputes
• disputes about what should be done for children. 

You’ll also reflect on the ideas around child law, including the welfare principle and children’s rights. You’ll then consider the applications and principles of child law in practice.

You’ll examine parental and other adult-child relationships, evaluating the rules that govern children and their status in the family.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
