Autumn teaching

Sexualities and intimacies are central to social life involving our:

  • bodies
  • emotions
  • identities
  • desires and non desires
  • significant ‘others’.

You’ll explore contemporary issues and debates surrounding sexualities and intimacies from intersectional, feminist and queer perspectives. By doing this, you’ll develop your understanding of how penalties and privileges are allocated to different bodies and practices.

You’ll examine the entanglements of sexualities and intimacies with:

  • gender
  • race
  • dis/ability
  • other vectors of power.

These issues will be examined in relation to a range of topics such as:

  • sexualities and disabilities
  • sexual violence
  • compulsory heterosexuality and non-monogamies
  • asexualities
  • asylum seeking.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
