Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of modern Irish politics.

You’ll investigate academic debates on the changing politics of gender, class and religion. 

You’ll also explore:

  • the key actors and institutions of the Irish political system
  • the transformation of the Irish political economy
  • Ireland’s changing relations with the EU and UK.

Although focusing on the Republic of Ireland, you’ll also examine the history and legacy of the Northern Ireland conflict.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27.
