New Generation Vehicle Technology (H7109)

Spring teaching
This module gices you an introduction to the principles and technologies of modern on-road passenger cars, which are still the prime transportation vehicles.
Topics will include:
- vehicle dynamics and corresponding sub-systems including tyres, suspension and steering systems with the aim of modelling, simulation and control
- a brief comparison of the on-road and off-road vehicles
- control systems including the powertrain, stability and safety control principles and techniques
- a brief introduction to autonomous vehicles including technologies for perception, localisation, path planning, communication and control.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
