How do diverse groups experience the effects of development differently because of certain aspects of their identity such as gender, race and sexuality?

The module will introduce you to a range of concepts and frameworks. This will allow you to identify, analyse and explain different forms of gendered and racial inequality. The module will also show you how to apply this knowledge in a range of practical contexts. Case studies may include:

• activism tackling sexual and gender-based violence
• policies towards migration
• toolkits for addressing rising sexism and racism online.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
