Technical Drawing and Computer Aided Design (H7131)
15 credits, Level 4
Spring teaching
In this hands-on module, you will learn the basics techniques of descriptive geometry, the rules and standards of technical drawing and basic computer-aided design.
The module has two, closely related parts.
In the first, you will learn how to produce technical drawings by hand. You’ll gain an understanding of the rules and conventions used internationally in technical product documentation and specification. This will enable you to read technical drawings with confidence and communicate efficiently with product development and manufacturing departments.
In the second part of the module, you will learn the basics of software packages used for technical drawing, helping you to progress to year two of your course.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
