Tort Law (723M3)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
In this module, you’ll explore how tort law decides when someone is liable for negligently causing harm. You’ll examine how courts deal with different types of harm by studying key cases in detail.
You’ll also look at how negligence connects with other areas of tort law, including occupiers’ liability, product liability and nuisance/Rylands v Fletcher. The module covers the main remedies and defences available in these areas.
You’ll engage critically with academic commentary and judicial reasoning. This will help you assess how far the legal rules in tort align with underlying legal principles.
