Research
Her research is interdisciplinary and comparative, and centres around questions of how聽governance, democratic accountability and collective action can be strengthened to reduce inequality and expand the agency of marginalised groups globally.聽She has contributed to both policy and research聽on local democracy, women鈥檚 political participation, decentralisation, informal institutions, and the political economy of public policy and service delivery in South Asia, the Western Balkans and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Her current research and policy interests include: democratic resilience, polarisation, and accountability; gender, collective action, and feminist political economy; governance of emerging technologies and AI; and building coalitions and research ecosystems for policy impact.聽Shandana has led on several research projects, including the ESRC funded
