The Business School celebrates success in the Shanghai Rankings as Management rises to joint 12th in the UK

Management is now ranked joint 12th in the UK , up from 17th, marking a strong national position and reflecting our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and international collaboration. This rise highlights the Business School’s expanding influence in shaping future leaders and advancing knowledge in sustainability, strategy, and innovation.
Alongside this achievement, the School has retained a commendable position among other key disciplines:

Business Administration – ranked among the world’s top 50 (47th globally) and 11th in the UK

Economics – joint 11th in the UK

Finance – joint 17th in the UK
Head of the Department of Management, Frank Bond, said:
“I am delighted that Management has been ranked as joint 12th in the UK by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy's 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. This impressive position recognises the exceptional quality of our management researchers, the citation rates of their publications, and the overall impact their research is having on the area of management.

It is well-deserved, and I congratulate them on this outstanding accomplishment."
The Shanghai GRAS rankings evaluate universities worldwide across 57 subject disciplines, using measures such as World Class Faculty, World Class Output, Research Impact, and International Collaboration. More than 2,000 universities across 100 countries and regions are included in the annual assessment.
