This module will introduce you to the theoretical, conceptual and empirical tools that enable the analysis of distributional considerations in economics.
Topics include:
- theories of inclusive growth
- growth incidence
- inequality measurement
- economic mobility and equality of opportunity
- inequality dynamics
- taxation and inequality
- minimum wages and inequality, among others.
Topics may change year-on-year to reflect contemporary developments in the field.
Module learning outcomes
- Critically assess theories of economic growth.
- Evaluate the distributional impact of policy recommendations and growth strategies.
- Formulate suitable measures of inequality appropriate to particular circumstances.
- Effectively communicate contemporary issues of economic inequality to specialist and non-specialist audiences
