Postgraduate Research and Staff Research Ethics Review Process

Ethical Review System

The University has now rolled out the new ethical review system Ethics RM, which has replaced the use of Sussex Direct.

If you require ethics approval for your research you must apply via the online ethics review system on

You can read guidance on how to use Ethics RM by downloading the Ethics RM - User Guide for PGR and Staff Applicants [PDF 993.86KB]

If you have trouble logging on, please direct any User Access issues to resinfosystems@sussex.ac.uk

Amendments

Amendments can still be made on Sussex Direct on previously approved projects, so long as the duration is for no longer than 12 months. For project amendments on Ethics RM, please consult the Ethics RM User Guide.

Supervisors

Please be aware that your supervisor may need to login to Infonetica Apply (Ethics RM) for the first time, before you are able to add them to your application.

'how to' videos will be uploaded here over the next few weeks to assist you with navigating the new online ethical review system and how to complete the form.

All PGR and staff applications requiring ethics review (both low and higher risk) are reviewed one of the Faculty Research Ethics Committees below.
