A new method to register attendance at teaching sessions is now available in the latest version of Sussex Mobile.
We have prepared and updated the FAQ. One of the main differences is that Sussex Direct is now read only so that all updates should be made within Sussex Mobile.
Students are also able to notify their absence directly within the app during the teaching session. See the and FAQ.
UPDATE: 7 Oct 2025 - 12:44pm
Whilst the new method to register attendance is working for the majority of students and teaching sessions, we are aware of some issues and our teams are currently working on fixing these as a priority.
The most pressing issue is cancelled lectures not reflecting in the app. Apologies for the obvious inconvenience this causes.
UPDATE: 17 Oct 2025 - 4:29pm
The majority of issues reported have now been rectified in Sussex Mobile, staff and students should see a more consistent attendance register in the app and data should be coming over to Sussex Direct correctly.

You can use either the app or the web browser version (
- Check you are logged in with your @sussex.ac.uk credentials and in the Student profile. Logout and log back in to check this.
- Check you have typed the PIN correctly. The submit button is not enabled if a character is incorrect.
