Sussex Law School Appoints New Honorary Professor

Richard Honey has extensive experience before both the lower and appellate courts, including five appearances in the Supreme Court.
The Sussex Law School is delighted to announce the appointment of leading public and environmental law barrister, , as Honorary Professor of Law.
Honey is Chair of the and has particular expertise in judicial review and similar statutory challenges; infrastructure projects; compulsory purchase and compensation; the community infrastructure levy; and climate change and environmental, social and governance (ESG) litigation. Honey also has extensive experience before both the lower and appellate courts, including five appearances in the .
With chambers at , London, Honey was named The Times’ Lawyer of the Week in May 2025 for his work on the Dartmoor wild camping case decided by the Supreme Court. He is General Editor of the (Bloomsbury Professional online) and (Bloomsbury Professional, 5th edition, 2025). He is also co-editor of ‘ (Sweet & Maxwell, 2nd edition, 2012 and 3rd edition, 2020). He also contributed to the (Bloomsbury Professional, 1st to 4th editions, 2015-2022), (Sweet & Maxwell, 3rd edition, 2012) and (OUP, 1st edition, 2011).
