Module Outline
This module aims to equip students with practical, intellectual and life skills to make a positive difference in the world. Through successful showcases of social, climate and reparative justice, students will learn how to design and support advocacy campaigns, work with grassroot communities and global organisations, present evidence to inform policy change, produce briefs, reports, and media pieces to lobby and influence diverse audiences. Interactive workshops will teach how to think like a practitioner, consultant, and activist, adapt creative ideas to different contexts, and apply concrete tools for change to real life scenarios in international development.
Module learning outcomes
Understand and analyse complex and non-linear ways in which development organisations and grassroot movements enact positive change in real life settings.
Present meta, quantitative, qualitative, archival and ethnographic data to support advocacy campaigns, policy proposals and legislative change.
Analyse business case documents, consultancy reports, research briefs, policy briefs, media articles, parliamentary evidence.
Apply creative problem-solving skills, communication skills, grassroots organising methods, lobbying and coalition-building skills, and an understanding of global regulations in designing an effective advocacy, social and climate justice campaigns
